Last week science students from community colleges around Minnesota gathered in the Capitol rotunda and presented the findings of research projects they’d participated in. Students from MCTC’s Biotechnology program and STEM Internship Club presented both individual and group research on topics including DNA barcoding, comparative analysis of essential oils and metal-resistant bacteria and its application in bioremediation. Students were accompanied by MCTC faculty mentors Rekha Ganaganur (Chemistry and Biotechnology) and Renu Kumar (Biology). Click here to read more about the growth of research in two-year colleges.
