Rama graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s in Economics. After graduation, he pursued careers in retails sales and banking; eventually settling for a long career in the finance industry. From his first days as a teller at a local bank in Naperville, Illinois, Rama knew that the banking industry was for him.
His career in banking ran about 15 years and he had the opportunity to work for TCF Bank, The Federal Reserve Bank, and U. S. Bank. Rama’s banking experiences includes branch management, operations, consumer lending, training, and correspondent banking. His various positions allowed him to travel across the United States, but also focus on the Upper Midwest. He has given presentations and demos on electronic banking to many community and national bank employees.
During his time at the Fed, Rama earned his MBA from Metropolitan State University and met his lovely wife, who has a career in human resources. They spend as much time together as possible going to the movies, attending various events, and discovering new restaurants.
Rama has been teaching since 1998. He stated instructing bank employees for the American Institute of Banking and soon after he received his MBA, he started teaching introductory computer science at Metro State. Rama has also taught in an adjunct capacity for the University of Phoenix and Rasmussen College. Rama joined MCTC as a full time faculty member in 2007 and has never looked back.
He finds teaching to be one of the more rewarding jobs a person could have and looks forward to each semester with his students. He takes pride that his classes are not only strict in performance criteria, but also a safe haven where students engage in active learning and free to express their ideas.
Outside of work, Rama enjoys being active and is involved in many hobbies. Besides putting in a good workout at the gym, he spends considerable time with his wife as they pursue adventures. Rama has a great appreciate for technology and is an avid video gamer. In addition, he works hard on keeping abreast of current business and technology topics. Finally, Rama enjoys tinkering with home theater equipment and is always looking at ways to make his home audio/video system louder than ever.
Rama’s hometown is Chicago, Illinois, and he is a passionate fan of most Chicago professional sports. Both his campus and home office are adorned with Chicago sports gear.
